As a pre-final year student, my task is to find ways to enhance our technical club/community for the betterment of junior students. So I was thinking about using Forem as our platform for communications. I would really love and appreciate suggestions on -
- How about the idea of using Forem as your college community platform?
- Has anyone tried this before?
- Is there any other better alternative?

100000x supported!
We will begin releasing official instructions for getting up and running independently with Forem OSS and I think that would be the ideal time to get up and running with this.
Forem has support for allowing email registration based on domain which can help support college networks. We very much see this happening.
Thanks a lot, @benhalpern π I did not know about email registration support. This will really come in handy allowing freshers to join directly using college email Id.
I will soon be talking to my professor-in-charge about Forem implementations. π€©
This is a great idea! I don't think I've seen anyone else do this, but it would totally work. I think a Discord server would also be good for real-time communication, it can be super helpful for fixing issues and pair programming.
OH! HELL YEAH!! I just checked their website and they even have templates for school/college clubs and community. This is also a great tool, where queries and issues can be fixed instantly.
Thank you so much @xomiamoore for this cool idea. π€©
Happy to help! I think Discord is such a great tool for community building! Works really well in conjunction with other tools too :)
I think this can be a really awesome idea!
Thanks a lot π I was just wondering how cool it will be for students to participate, share ideas and learn from fellow members on a common platform.
